When people think of artists, programmers are not usually what first comes to mind. For me, programmers are the ultimate type of artists: creating something from nothing. While I am incredibly passionate about making art through programming, I also want to evoke deep thought and philosophical questioning through powerful videos of gender equality, societal influence, and feminism.
Growing up in an Orthodox Jewish environment has made me extremely sensitive to the inequalities between men and women in all aspects of life. I believe the disproportionate amount of women in powerful roles such as CEOs, directors, congress, board members, studio executives, and more has led to a perpetuation of inequality between the roles of women and men. I want to spread awareness of these injustices to as many people as possible using unique and powerful videos. I also want to experiment with unique forms of capturing footage, either through different angles, lighting or other techniques.
Some inspirational videos I have seen that are helping spread this message and advance women's rights and gender equality have been: Always #LikeAGirl, How the Media Failed Women in 2013, The Mask You Live In, Gendered Marketing, and The Miss Representation Project. I think there are too many people that are content with the role that society expects of them and therefore don't question the constant and pervasive messages they are being shown in all aspects of life. I want to show people videos that make them question who they are, why they are that way, and who they truly want to be.
Stay tuned for upcoming videos and posts!
